Bamboo – durable, beautiful, environmentally friendly

Bamboo has become increasingly popular as a high-quality flooring material in recent years. Bamboo is an attractive alternative to hardwood because it’s less expensive, highly durable, and easy on the environment.

Installs just like traditional wood flooring Bamboo is stronger, harder and more stable than most woods, making it a superior choice for flooring. Raw bamboo stalks are processed into standard-sized boards and installed just like hardwood. It can be installed with traditional nails or glue, or it can be “floated.” Bamboo is also naturally fire retardant.

Good for the environment Bamboo is one of the most environmentally friendly construction materials available anywhere. One acre’s worth of bamboo can produce more flooring than an acre’s worth of trees. Plus, because it’s a fast-growing grass, reaching maturity in only a few years (compared to several decades for an oak tree) bamboo is many times more efficient than hardwoods. Moreover, when bamboo is harvested the roots stay alive to grow new shoots. The root systems help control soil erosion, making bamboo perfect for planting on hilly acreage where other crops cannot grow.
